What to Expect During Your Appointment

Consultation & Colour Selection

Your appointment begins with a personalized consultation to discuss your desired colour, shape, and overall look. We assess your natural lip tone, undertones, and existing pigmentation to select a colour that complements your complexion.

Lip Mapping & Preparation

Your natural lip shape is carefully assessed, and subtle adjustments may be planned to improve the appearance of symmetry and definition. A topical numbing product is applied to help minimize discomfort.

Pigment Application

Using a specialized digital permanent makeup device, pigment is gently layered into the lips to create an even, beautifully blended colour.

Immediately following your treatment, your lips will appear brighter, darker, and more saturated than the final healed result. This is completely normal.

The Healing Process

Lip Blushing is a process, and your final colour develops gradually.

Days 1–2 | Initial Colour & Swelling

Your lips may appear vibrant or darker than expected, with mild to moderate swelling and tenderness. Swelling typically begins to subside within the first 24–48 hours.

Days 3–7 | Flaking & Colour Changes

As the lips heal, you may experience dryness, tightness, and light flaking. The pigment may appear significantly lighter or uneven during this stage. Avoid picking or peeling the skin.

Weeks 2–4 | Colour Development

The lips continue to heal, and the colour gradually becomes more visible and balanced. The initial brightness softens into a natural-looking tint.

Weeks 6–8 | Final Results

Your healed colour can now be assessed. A perfecting appointment may be recommended to refine colour saturation, symmetry, or areas where pigment retention was uneven.

Preparing for Your Lip Blushing Appointment

Proper preparation helps support comfortable treatment, healthy healing, and optimal pigment retention.

• Lip Filler: Allow a minimum of 4 weeks between lip filler injections and Lip Blushing to ensure swelling has resolved and the filler has settled.

• Botox or Other Neuromodulators: Allow at least 2 weeks after injections around the mouth before your appointment.

• Cold Sores: If you have ever experienced cold sores or oral herpes (HSV-1), please inform us before booking. Lip tattooing can trigger an outbreak, and preventative antiviral medication may be recommended by your healthcare provider.

• Hydration: Keep your lips well hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment.

• Exfoliation: Avoid aggressive lip scrubs, chemical exfoliants, and irritating skincare products before treatment.

• Sun Exposure: Avoid sunburned, chapped, cracked, or irritated lips.

• Alcohol & Caffeine: Avoid alcohol for 24 hours and excessive caffeine on the day of your appointment.

• Medications: Inform us of any medications that may affect bleeding or healing. Never discontinue prescribed medication without medical approval.

If you have naturally dark, cool-toned, or hyperpigmented lips, a specialized lip neutralization treatment may be recommended before achieving your desired colour.

Lip Blushing Aftercare

Following your treatment, proper aftercare is essential to support healing and pigment retention.

During the initial healing period:

• Keep lips clean and follow your provided aftercare instructions.

• Apply only the recommended healing product.

• Avoid picking, peeling, or exfoliating the lips.

• Avoid excessive heat, saunas, swimming, and activities that cause heavy sweating during initial healing.

• Avoid spicy, acidic, or excessively hot foods if they cause irritation.

• Avoid kissing and direct contact with the lips while the skin is healing.

• Avoid applying lipstick, gloss, or other cosmetic products until the lips have healed.

• Protect your lips from direct sun exposure.

How Long Does Lip Blushing Last?

Lip Blushing typically lasts approximately 1–3 years, depending on your skin, lifestyle, sun exposure, skincare routine, and individual pigment retention.
